When I was in high school, I decided that I wanted to kind of go into pre-med. So I want to be a caring physician who listens empathetically to the patients. I also want to help bridge the gaps in society, their president because of like socio-economic barriers, and kind of be that mediator and helping reform health care. I knew that Grand Valley would be the perfect place to kind of start there. The Biomedical Science Department like gave me a really good foundational science to kind of start with and really allowed me to explore a lot of areas that will be pertinent to my future career as a physician, like the human anatomy lab course. We got to dissect on real people and kind of learn the anatomy firsthand. There's a balance back there. This year. I'm the Volunteer Event Coordinator for the [inaudible] Club. I also tutor at the Chemistry Success Center. Chemistry has been really a passion of mine from high school and just being able to help my peers academically and with their chemistry and inspire them to kind of maybe pursue a career in chemistry has been really rewarding. I'm really proud of pushing myself out of my comfort zone and becoming a Teaching Assistant, helping other students, graduating as one of the first kids in my family, and just really putting myself out there in the community. To be the person able to kind of graduate and fulfill my family's dream really means a lot to me.
