Laker Marching Band

The Grand Valley State University Laker Marching Band, known fondly as the Pride of the Midwest, represents GVSU and supporting the Laker Football team through energetic and entertaining performances on and off the field. As one of the most diversified and visible organizations on campus, the Laker Marching Band is composed of students who represent over 50 different degree plans.

  • Provides students with an opportunity to create lasting friendships, develop a work ethic that enhances their academic experience, and perform before appreciative and knowledgeable fans.
  • Composed of more than 220 student performers, including musicians, color guards, and twirlers.

Our role is to entertain and to represent the university in a great tradition, and marching band is an American tradition. They knew they had this, and there was an air of confidence that this is going to be good.

The halftime show was a very hype show for the student section. It was just a lot of fun, and the kids had a blast.

I just finished my last first home game ever, and I feel really excited. The band did so well.

There was such a different atmosphere once we got uniform, and the plumes were there.

It was so much fun. The crowd loved everything. They were singing every word to every song.

Whose got the finest band in the land?
