“Being somewhere so far from home, it just made sense for me to join a community where I am accepted as who I am. I am a part of something bigger.”

When I was looking into schools in Michigan, Grand Valley was one of the smaller schools. But it had a good vibe to it. The Padnos International Center has made it very accommodating for the new incoming internationals. Coming from a different background and coming to the States, you get to experience a lot of stuff that you probably haven't before. But you have the right people around you that are willing to help you and guide you in the right way.
Through the GVSU co-op program I felt like I have stepped into the professional field. You have academic experience in class, but then academic experience outside of class where it's more hands-on. And I feel when I walk out I already have a certain amount of experience under my belt, which gives me an edge.
Grand Valley has a lot of resources outside the classroom that one can utilize to make themselves into a better person. It's not all about academics and all about studying. It's more about helping you reach the best version of yourself.
